On Sunday evening, September 25th, the Rotary Club of South Burlington hosted 66 officers, administrative staff and families for the 13th annual South Burlington Police Recognition Dinner. The dinner was held in the spectacular new OnLogic building on Community Drive, and was catered by the OnLogic staff, headed up by Chef Sarah Bishop. Roland Groeneveld, Executive Chair of OnLogic and Chair of the South Burlington Business Association, was the guest speaker.
Nina Borden, Rotary President, introduced the event with a comparison of the values of the SBPD and how they fit the ideals and principals of Rotary. She highlighted the work our officers and staff do to keep South Burlington safe.
Chief Shawn Burke presented several awards to commend the service of his staff over the 2023 calendar year. The 26 Rotarians on hand, along with the City Manager, three City Councilors, several members of the Howard Center Outreach Team, and other honored guests, were afforded a glance into the world our Police Department faces daily. This presentation is consistently enlightening to the daily stresses and pressure, and indeed, dangers, our SBPD face in what is a growingly urban environment.
The Rotary Club of South Burlington would like to thank the South Burlington Police Department for allowing us to be a part of this annual event. As well, we would like to thank our additional corporate sponsors which allow this event to occur, including Green Mountain Credit Union, O’Brien Brothers Real Estate, OnLogic, Pomerleau Real Estate, The University Mall, and Dorset Square Blue Mall.
