Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) is one of eleven commissions serving Vermont municipalities. CCRPC operates under the Vermont Municipal and Regional Planning and Development Act (Title 24, Chapter 117, V.S.A.), conducts metropolitan transportation planning pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 134, and its adopted bylaws. By definition, a “region” consists of a group of contiguous municipalities which “constitute a logical geographic and coherent socio-economic planning area.” All municipalities, by law, are members of the Regional Commission, however active participation is voluntary.

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) is guided by Commissioners that are appointed by the City Councils, Village Trustees, and Select boards of the municipalities within the region. The Commissioner meets throughout the year and act as the Board of the organization, conducts business, and is responsible for the fiscal soundness of the organization. Each year the Commission approves a Budget and Work Plan in may which outline the organization’s efforts to best meet the needs of the CCRPC municipalities.
