Seeking volunteers for this annual event in downtown Burlington.
The Vermont City Marathon is around the corner on Friday, May 24th through Sunday, May 26th. Chuck Spear, the Regional Director and Volunteer Coordinator at Run Vermont, reached out to our club asking if any of our members would volunteer to help during this annual event. Linda made the announcement this past Thursday. As of this morning, there are assorted volunteer opportunities available!
Below is a link for volunteers:
Chuck specifically asked, “We could use a bit of help at the Sport & Fitness Expo on May 24-25 as well as on race day, May 26 – especially at the Main and Lake Street Relay Exchange Zones, and the Course Monitor positions.”
Sounds fun for anyone who enjoys this popular, outdoor event!

Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, International Day of Peace represents a globally shared day for all humanity to commit to building a culture of peace in communities around the world. The Vermont Council on World Affairs is excited to once again celebrate International Day of Peace with programming focused on this important topic. This year's event, Peace in Progress: Understanding Today, Shaping Tomorrow, will focus on the future of peace and will explore our current global peace landscape and envision future pathways to a more unified world. During this event, we will unite advocates, visionaries, and policymakers who are committed to the shared commitment of building a more peaceful and secure world. Join us on September 25th, 2024 for a full-day summit where we will explore the vital role of subnational diplomacy in promoting peace, highlight the contributions of women as peacebuilders, and examine the impact of emerging technologies on peace and conflict resolution. In addition, we will delve into the global challenges and opportunities for peace, examining current conflicts to inspire collaborative efforts toward a more peaceful world. Each year at our International Day of Peace event we honor an individual who, in VCWA's view, embodies the qualities inherent in promoting international understanding and building ties between the US and the world with our Person of the Year Award.

Oct. 31, 2024 7:30 a.m.
On this Halloween we are happy to have Jason Smiley talk to us about the Eddy file from Chittenden Vermont. Jason is an Eddy Family Historian and has been researching the Eddy Brothers for more than a decade. There are many misconceptions about the Eddy family and plenty of false information out there that keeps getting retold. My goal is to bring to light the facts of the story. More at his website. |
