FIRST ANNUAL SHOW

Participation categories include:
(if under 18, based on grade as of May 31, 2007)
Youth-                                     Grades K-5

Junior-                                     Grades 6-8

Teen-                                       Grades 9-12

Adult-                                                 (18 & over)

Open-        (could include multiple performers

or combined age group…adult/child combination,
or family representation)

 

Eligibility

Participation in the Talent Event will be open to all individuals who live or work  in South Burlington, or have a tie to South Burlington through church, youth group involvement, etc. Participation within a category may be  either individual or group. All participants must be pre-registered by  May 31, 2007.

 

Performances may include:

Song, dance, instrumental,

Other (comedy, acrobatics, juggling, acting, etc.)

 

Awards

All participants will receive a certificate of participation. Each participation category will be judged individually with prize awarded to

top performance in each group. Top performers will be invited back for the  Grand Finale. 

 

Judging

Based on: stage presence, talent or technical  skills, creativity/originality, appearance,  audience appeal, and overall entertainment value.

 

Rules:

Talent may be any type of strictly amateur entertainment including singing, dancing, instrumental, etc. deemed appropriate and suitable for family entertainment.

 

All entries must be received by May 31, 2007.  All participants must be pre-registered by the deadline to be eligible.  Entries may be dropped off at the South Burlington Recreation Department, located at 575 Dorset Street, or mailed to:

There is no fee for entry.  Participants must enter the appropriate category and perform one act, unless competing in the open category as well, in which case the limit would be two acts.

 

Each act is limited to between 3-5 minutes.  This time includes your set-up, performance, and exit from stage.

 

Rotary will provide a flat stage, electricity, cassette/cd player, and single microphone with stand for each performance.  Additional microphones and props must be furnished by the performer(s).

 

Contestants are allowed to use taped accompaniment provided the tape contains musical accompaniment only, no vocals of any kind on tape, and no lip-syncing allowed.

 

Adults may accompany a youth act in the open category only.

 

No acts using fire, sharp or dangerous objects, or animals of any kind.

 

The South Burlington Rotary reserves the right to disallow any act that does not fit into the family atmosphere for this event.

 

All acts must be Rated “G” for general audience.  All performances must be presented in a family-oriented style, or participant(s) will be disqualified.

 

All decisions made by the judges are final.  A minimum of the top three acts in each participation category will advance to the final round.  Additional acts within a category may advance based on participation numbers and judges discretion.

 

Audition hours will be held from 11am-2pm on June 24th, and all participants will receive a time slot within this time period.  The Grand Finale will be held in the evening from 6:00-8:15pm.

 

Winners will be announced after the judges have tallied their scores.

 

In the event of inclement weather,

 the event will be held at the SBHS Auditorium.
