SERVICE
COMMITEE: Co-Chair Lynda Camire reports that Nick deTarnowsky and Rene Bourne say organization for National Night Out is all set. There was discussion that it would be a good idea to invite the major golf tournament sponsors to the Dictionary Project presentations when they occur.
BANDSHELL
COMMITTEE: Co-Chair, Tom Hubbard, reports the winners from the Talent Show will perform at National Night Out. There will also be Irish Dancers, a welcome by Governor Douglas and a Color Guard. It has been a busy summer at the Band Shell. The committee is working on revising the categories for next years Talent Show.
FOUNDATION
COMMITTEE: Chair Stan Bradeen, discussed the possibility of a joint fund raising International Dinner with TIE (The International Exchange) at SBHS on October 5th from 5-7:30 pm. TIE is a shorter-term exchange program than the Rotary Exchange and draws students from lower socioeconomic statuses that need more financial assistance. A joint fundraiser could be mutually beneficial to both groups. The board responded favorably.
GOLF
TOURNAMENT: Nancy Simson announced that Sue Wainer has agreed to be the primary co chair for next years golf tournament. There was discussion about trying for a different date so as not to conflict with the St Mike’s Tournament and addressing a few area’s dissatisfaction from this years tournament with the club. Again, early sponsorship solicitation is key to a successful tournament.
OTHER: Next months meeting date is September 4th, location TBA.
Meeting Adjourned on a motion by Penrose Jackson and second by John Simson.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sandy Walsh, Secretary
